The experience

The Tour of South Corsica Sport

Over six days, you will traverse Southern Corsica, tackling long, strenuous stages (up to 120 km and over 2,000 m of elevation gain) designed for regular, experienced cyclists. Starting from Ajaccio, you immediately dive into a route built for endurance and steady pacing. Head north toward Porto, with an opening stage that takes you to the Calanques de Piana. Next comes the ascent of the Col de Vergio before you head inland to Corte.

A sustained climb to Zicavo follows, succeeded by a demanding stage to Zonza, nestled at the foot of the Aiguilles de Bavella. Make your way to the limestone cliffs of Bonifacio via L'Ospédale. You will reach the Gulf of Valinco by way of Sartène before returning to Ajaccio along roads dotted with authentic villages. From the rugged coast to mountain hamlets, you will experience a variety of settings, each one spectacular.

One conviction has shaped our trips: no two people experience a journey in exactly the same way.

Some want to ride solo, finding their own rhythm and conquering mountain passes at their own pace, without waiting for anyone. Others enjoy the group dynamic—sharing a climb, regrouping at the summit, and reliving the day's ride over an evening drink. Many want a mix of both, depending on how they feel that day. That is why we designed our trips to let you make that choice, from the first pass to the last.

A few days before departure, you can join a WhatsApp group with fellow travelers setting out on the same day. Everyone rides at their own pace; the group reconnects at refreshment stops or in the evening to share updates on road conditions and scenic viewpoints, recap the stages over dinner, and sometimes even forge new friendships. Our team facilitates the group throughout the journey. Your route book and GPX track provide everything you need to ride independently: the itinerary, stage profiles, mountain passes and their difficulty ratings, our recommended stops, and refreshment points.

Ride solo or meet up with others—you don't have to decide right now. That’s the freedom of travel.

Two ways to experience this trip

-Comfort Option: luggage transfer included, guaranteed departures – from €975/person.

-Freedom Option: choose your own date – from €725/person.

Depart on the date of your choice, anytime during the season. Same itinerary, same route book, same accommodation, and same included dinners: you benefit from the full tour organization while carrying your own luggage.

Special participant rate for your bike

6-day package, regardless of the bike type: €185 instead of €280

-Polygon carbon road bike: for those who rely on leg power to climb

Carbon frame—a bike built for Corsican mountain passes; lightweight on the Col de Vergio and stable on the descents toward Bonifacio.

We own our fleet: purchased and maintained in our own workshops in Ajaccio.

That is why participants enjoy a special rate:

And if you travel with your own bike, there is nothing extra to pay: the trip price remains the same.

The 5 stages, day by day

  1. Alt à définir
We welcome you early in the morning in Ajaccio. This first stage takes us to the extreme point of the great south, jumping from one gulf to another, from Ajaccio to that of Valinco, to finish at the white cliffs of Bonifacio: fine sand beaches, Genoese towers, wild little bays and nice climbs in prospect.
  2. Alt à définir
From Ospedale to the Bavella Needles, the road (2013 Tour de France stage) takes us into the upper Taravo valley and its typical villages nestled in greenery. We climb the course of the same name to the Accia pass (1193 m) before a long descent between chestnuts and beeches until Zicavo (735 m).
  3. Alt à définir
This exceptional interior road offers us the passage of two famous passes: Verde (1289) and Sorba (1311). Then we descend towards the Vecchio valley and Corte, the historic capital of independent Corsica.
  4. Alt à définir
Discovery of the magnificent Niolu region and its Scala di Santa Regina gorge ! Passage today through the magnificent Spelunca gorges and the Vergio pass, Corsica's highest road pass ! Before diving to Porto and its magnificent gulf view !
  5. Alt à définir
Crossing the Calanches of Piana (UNESCO World Heritage): a small pink corniche road makes a narrow path through piles of rocks with jagged shapes: breathtaking ! Then we continue towards Cargèse and its two churches: the Greek and the Latin face each other above the sea.

No. Thanks to premium electric bikes Riese & Mülller(VAE), the GT20 is accessible to all levels.

  • How many days does it take to cycle across Corsica?

The Great Corsica crossing (GT20) typically takes between 6 and 10 days depending on the chosen package.

The duration varies based on your level, the type of bike (electric or not), and your preferred pace.

Shorter versions (North or South) are also available.

  • Does Cycling Corsica provide electric bikes?
